If you’re wondering how to mix up your rice purees at home, why not add in a bit of vegetable like peas or even carrots! The benefit of using fresh or frozen peas is that they are nutrient-rich veggies that can also be easily digestible when blended along with hearty rice.
Rice, in its natural state, is packed with vitamins and minerals so you can rest assured you’re providing unprocessed meals to your family. We suggest using quality rice, like Carolina® White Rice, or feel free to use our Organic variety if preferred.
The beauty of using these two ingredients is that they make for great pantry items for adults and children alike. Prepare a savory Pea and Prosciutto Risotto for the adults and a nice rice and pea puree for the youngsters at home just beginning to eat solid foods. If you’re looking to make a large batch and store your food for later, great idea! This rice puree can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container, like a mason jar or other container, for about 3 days.
As a bonus, this combination is also freezer friendly! Get creative and use an ice cube tray to portion out or use another mason jar to toss in the freezer. Just make sure to use it within a month and thaw it out in the fridge rather than on the countertop.
