Step 1
Rinse rice. (soak rice 2-8 hours, if desired)
Step 2
Combine rice and water in a small heavy bottom stainless steel pot.
Step 3
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 45 minutes. (reduce cook time to 20 minutes if using soaked rice)
Step 4
Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.
Step 5
Puree with a hand blender or food processor until smooth.
Step 6
Serve warm or cold.
If Puree is too thick it can be thinned with water, juice, breast milk or formula.
Rice Puree can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 days. You can also portion into an ice cube tray or muffin pan and freeze. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Allow to thaw in refrigerator.
Feel free to use filtered water, if preferred.
To add a bit more flavor, mix in a bit of applesauce or yogurt to the blend.
